Gift Sets

I love nothing more than making items custom for a new little one!  This set was ordered for a new little lady named Emma.  I hope she loves on it and it becomes her best friend.

If you'd like to order a special gift set for a new little one please let me know.  These are designed exclusively by my artistic daughter and then handmade by yours truly!  All loveys are triple stitched for added durability.  The loveys are only $15.00.  Embroidered name up to 5 characters can be added for only $5.00.

The burp cloth measures approximately 14 x 20 and is made from 6 ply premium diaper cloths with a strip of coordinating designer fabric.  These are the perfect size for burping baby and also fits perfectly into the diaper bag.  These burp cloths are so thick that you can use them as diaper changing pads.  Burp cloths are sold for $5.00 each or 2 for $9.00.

Valentine's Day

Everyone loves Valentine's Day!  That is the day when you give your loved ones extra special loving.  My children are 19 & 21 but every year since they were very little I've always given them and their Dad (of course) a heart filled with candy on Valentine's Day.  It isn't much but it's just a little tradition we have.  Their wonderful Dad usually cooks for me on Valentine's Day.  It's usually a 4 course meal too completed with a decadent dessert!  He is a much better cook than I am and I always look forward to that special meal.

Today in honor of Valentine's Day I am showing you a few things I've been working on in my craft room.  If you see something that peaks your interest just let me know and I can ship directly to you!

Burp Cloths are 2 for $9.  Made using 6 ply Cloth Diapers.

Black & Red Tulle Wreath $30  It is on a 10" wreath base and measures about 22" wide.

Black & Red Tulle KISS Wreath $30.  It is on a 10" wreath base and measures about 22" wide.

Pink & Red Tulle Wreath $30.  It is on a 12" wreath base and measures about 24" wide.

Happy Valentine's Day!

People are calling these covers, tents, canopies but I say whatever you call them I love it!  These carseat covers are a MUST HAVE for all moms!!  You can carry your baby in style as well as keep them shielded from the elements.  This will protect them from the rain, wind, sun, cold, germs, and keep them nice and dark for naptime!  This cover is attached to your carseat with velcro straps which keeps it from blowing or falling off.

Car Seat covers/canopies are available in an array of fabric choices using designer fabric.  The cover shown features Riley Blake Chevron Print in Lavender with super soft Minky Dot in Lavender as the backing.

Covers as featured are only $40.

Changes, New Jobs and Crafty Stuff!!

Still looking for the gold at the end of the rainbow!
Wow!  Is today really August 24th?  Has it really been 4 months since either of us posted?  The only explanation that I have is that a lot of things have happened since April.  I guess the most important is that Joy went and got a real paying job!  It's hard to believe.  She has managed our parents' business for over 7 years, but with the economy the business has declined.  She is still managing their books but isn't managing the retail store anymore.  My husband has recently started his own business and I'm running his office from home.  I love it!  Which brings us to why you've not seen a post for 4 months; you all know that I am not a committed writer.  I am going to try to do better though and my hubby is begging me to start actually selling my items instead of just giving them away.  Joy may pop in every once in awhile; she's not completely out of the loop she's just extremely busy now.  It'll take her a month or two to figure out how to juggle everything and still find time to do her crafty things.

I do have a few new items that I've made, but yes, I gave these as gifts too.  I can recreate them for anyone who is interested.  I guess I like making things for someone specifically.  I like having that person in mind and putting all my time and love into making the perfect items just for them.  Our brother & his wife are expecting their first child.  It's a little girl and all these items were made for her.  Our newest addition is expected to arrive on September 26th.  This will be my parents' 18th grandchild.  We are so excited and I can't wait to show you pictures of the baby in this special outfits.

Ties, Ties and more Ties

While Joy was using ties to dye eggs I was making a tie.  I couldn't find one for my hubby to wear for Easter that would match my dress so I improvised and made one!  For my first try it wasn't too bad.  Let us know what you think.

Tie-Dyed Easter Eggs

Tie-Dyed Easter Eggs is something I tried a couple of years back and it was super cool to do.  I don't have any pics of the last time I did it, but I wanted to post the instructions for my own memory.  If I have time to make some this year I'll take plenty of pics and try to post them next week.

Items Needed:

  • 100% Silk Tees (I go to thrift stores to find these for a $1)  The darker, more vibrant colors will work best.  Look for reds, dark blue, purple, etc.  Honestly usually the ugliest ties make the prettiest eggs.
  • Eggs
  • Twisty ties/Rubber bands
  • Light Colored Pillowcases/Dishtowels (think something old & cheap)
  • Pot
  • Water
  • Vinegar
Directions:

Alright, I'm going to word this the best I can without any pics of the process.  First you deconstruct the tie.  Seriously, rip that badboy up.  Cut it right up the seams.  Then wrap it around the egg, with the printed side touching the egg.  Pull it as tight as possible and then use a twisty tie to hold it in place.  Don't worry if there are folds in your fabric - it'll create a super cool pattern on your egg.  After you have the eggs wrapped in their ties, you're going to cut up that old pillowcase/dishtowel and wrap it around the silk covered eggs.  Pulling it as tight as possible and securing it with a twisty tie as well.

Next, put the eggs in a pot.  Cover them with water and add some vinegar (if you need an exact measurement go with 1/4 C vinegar).  Bring to a boil and let them boil for about 20 minutes.  Once they're done and have cooled unwrap them to see how they turned out!

Hope everyone has a Happy Easter!

-Joy
